A PDF can contain actual text, scanned images or both. Check whether text is selectable first. Extract existing text directly and use OCR for image pages. This avoids unnecessary recognition and makes output limitations clearer.
The right toolsOpen a representative page and try selecting and copying a sentence. Check tables and scans too: a file may mix page types. Selectable text can still have an incorrect reading order.
For existing text, choose PDF to Text or PDF to Word. For photos or scans, choose OCR and the appropriate recognition language. Language models may need downloading on first use, which requires internet access.
Compare output with the original. Check names, amounts, decimal separators, accented letters and column order carefully. A Word file built from extracted text does not reproduce every table, image or page layout exactly.

A ten-page PDF has six pages of selectable text and four photographed pages. Extract the digital text and use OCR for the image pages. If “1,250.00” becomes “1,250.80”, the output is wrong despite looking similar. Verify figures against the original before using them.
Without a text layer, extraction only sees image content. It does not automatically perform OCR. Use the OCR tool instead. Broken character encoding can also affect direct extraction.
No. Blur, shadows, small print, handwriting, language and tables affect recognition. Good lighting and straight pages help. Important information still needs checking against the original.
Prepare an image with a fixed aspect ratio instead of stretching it. In Change image format, choose a preset, check cropping or fitting and save as JPG, PNG or WebP. Check the platform preview afterwards: a post and its profile-grid thumbnail may display differently.
Read guideAn upload limit is about file size, not just page count. Inspect the original, remove unnecessary pages from a working copy and compare compression modes. A particular target size or percentage reduction is not achievable for every PDF.
Read guideChoose the right PDF action: merge files, extract selected pages, delete pages or change their order. A clear sequence makes it easier to check the finished document.
Read guideFind the right route between PDF, DOCX, images and text. First check whether the PDF contains selectable text or scanned images. That determines whether direct text extraction or OCR is appropriate.
